Uncle Pete joined the Military along with his brothers, Henry and Sero. At that time Uncle Pete was a Paratrooper. He was called back home to Mine for the War efforts. He missed D-Day by only a few months. His parents were thrilled to have him home again and to work the mines that he knew so well.

He worked in the mines with people who weren't familiar with the tools of the trade and didn't know safety. In doing so, it cost him his life. He was working with these unskilled men and they had loosened a rock...sadly it fell and hit him in the head. They didn't take him off the Mountain for hours and died a very painful death.

While visiting his resting place, I felt the sadness his parents and family felt in loosing him, so early in life. He was only 31,years old at the time of his death. His Parents grieved long and hard for him. Was so very sad.

In looking at his picture....I see such light and happiness in his face. I'm sure he's with his family and happy.
