He was honorably discharged from the Korean- Conflict War in April 1951 and in 1954 he married his longtime sweetheart, Maria de la Paz Garza. He attended Salineno and Roma school's during his youth, became a carpenter, and was a firm believer of the Christian faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara C. Gonzalez, Roxanna Chapa, three sons Jorge Emilio, Rene Carlos Chapa, Daniel Armando Chapa, seven grand children and five great- grand children.
Visitation was held Monday, July 8 from 4:00 to 9:00 pm. at Sanchez Memorial Funeral Home in Roma. Viewing will continue from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 9, 2013, with a 7 p.m. memorial service. Funeral service will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at El Camino, La Verdad y La Vida conducted by Pastor Daniel Chapa in Falcon Heights, Texas. Final resting place will be at the Salineno Cemetery.
