Ernest Gladden Ballard

A graveside service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at Brushwood Cemetery in Dubberly for Ernest "EG" Gladden Ballard, 68, a native of Dubberry and resident of Grand Isle, who died at 11:20 p.m. June 11, 1997.

Visitation will be 3 to 10 p.m. today at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland and 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Brushwood Cemetery Chapel.

He was the husband of Leota Dominique Ballard of Grand Isle; father of Donald Matherne of Gheens, Albert D. and Ernest G. Ballard Jr. and Tomi Defiore, all of Grand Isle; Linda B. Boyd of Mandeville, Vicki LeBlanc of Thibodaux and Tami Culbreath of RosePine; brother of Joyce Jackson of Baton Rouge and Mary Alice Johnson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peerless J. and Anna B. Newman Ballard; a sister, Faye Shaw; and two brothers, Arden and Jack Ballard.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was also a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of American Legion Post 309.

Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
