LAKE PROVIDENCE - Funeral services for Morris Houston, 52, an East Carroll Parish deputy sheriff, were at 1 p.m. today at Progressive Chapel Baptist Church here with the Rev. F. W. Wilson officiating.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Lake Providence under the direction of Brannum Funeral Home of Lake Providence.
Mr. Houston was shot and killed Friday morning at he and another deputy were attempting to transport a former mental patient from his East Carroll Parish Jail cell to the East Central Louisiana Hospital in Pineville.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ernestine Houston of Lake Providence; one half brother, Lee McClain of Lake Providence; two nieces and two nephews.
