|Birth: ||Jul. 2, 1811|
|Death: ||Sep. 5, 1856|
Only daughter of Levi and his first wife Sally Anna (Sellers) Buchanan. Second wife of John Hendricks, who she married at age 15 on 8-9-1826 in Woodford County, Kentucky. They had 14 children together, from 9 months after the wedding (still at age 15) right up until John's death in 1845. Eight of the children are buried in the Buchanan Cemetery, all but one dying in childhood, the other after giving birth for the first time. Most of the family could not read or write, including Linda and John.
Linda's father Levi is the patriarch of the cemetery. He and John Hendricks were some of the first settlers of the area and owned land next to and containing the cemetery. After Linda's death the land was passed it on to her only surviving son, Milton. Milton soon sold the land back to the Buchanans and moved to Brown township, Hendricks County, Indiana, where he established a home and family and became a well respected member of society.
The first known burial in the cemetery is for Linda's daughter Nancy in 1840. Between 1840 and 1845, six of her young children died and were buried in this cemetery. Three of Linda's infant grandchildren from her daughters are buried in the Buchanan Cemetery as well.
Linda died at the young age of 45 years, 2 months and 3 days.
