Gleason, who was also known as Gene Crosby, was a four-time loser, last sentenced for first degree robbery in Alameda County. He was eventually convicted of murder stemming from a failed prison escape on Thanksgiving Day in 1927. A total of 14 people died in the bloody revolt, including an unarmed prison guard. He was 29 years old when he was executed by hanging at Folsom State Prison.
