Visitation is one hour before the funeral on Wednesday at the Prosch Funeral Home in Waterville. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Funeral Home with his brother-in-law, Rev. Glen Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian.
Richard Aanas was born February 19, 1920 to Ludwig and Laura (Haugland) Aanas in Decorah, Iowa.
He married Ruth Nichols on March 14, 1949, in Austin, Minnesota. He attended Business College in Waterloo, Iowa and worked as a bookkeeper until moving to Elysian in 1954. He worked at E. F. Johnson in Waseca for ten years until retirement. He served as Mayor of Elysian and was very active in the Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the D. A. V.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Elysian, one son, Donald Aanas of Le Center, two daughters, Diane (Aanas) and husband Spencer Maix of Virginia, Minnesota, Debbra (Aanas) and husband, Daniel Smith of Kilkenny, two sisters, Luverne (Aanas) and husband, Rev. Glen Williamson of Stanwood, Washington, and eleven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law and one son.
