Wilhelmina (Mien) Bouwhuis
Passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Brockville General Hospital at the age of 86 years with her sons at her side. Born October 29, 1924 in Dalfsen, Holland, she was the daughter of the late Wilhelmus and Hendrika Deuteweerd. Predeceased by her beloved husband Theodoor (Ted) in October 2003 and by numerous brothers and sisters in Holland. Devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her son Henry and his wife Cathy (Commerford), granddaughter Cary Poole and her husband Matt, and great granddaughters Elizabeth and Charlotte Poole as well as by granddaughter Dana Bouwhuis. Also survived by her son Lawrence, his wife Pamela Crosby- Bouwhuis and step granddaughter Allegra Crosby. Dear sister of Anne Melenhorst, John Melenhorst, Bill Bouwhuis, Anne Bouwhuis and Toni Jansmen and fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. On behalf of our family we would like to say Thank You to the medical staff of the Brockville General Hospital, Emergency Department, 2nd floor nursing staff, and especially Doctors Trail and Ashe for their support and understanding. Family and friends may pay their respects at the IRVINE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Liturgy of the Christian Funeral will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church on Thursday, March 24th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
