Melvin Grina came here from Ottertail County, Minnesota, in 1904 to homestead on SE 1/4 of Section 1 of Hayland township. He married Oline Brorby in 1909 at Rothsay, Minnesota. They moved up here in 1914. Reared four children, two nephews, Reuben and Oscar, one adopted daughter Mrs. Donald (Marian) Iverson of Portland, Oregon, and one foster daughter, Mrs. Olaf (Elvera) Lokken, McGregor.

Oscar died in 1921; Melvin in 1946 and Oline in 1956. Reuben is now presently the owner of the homestead.
