Gilbert L. BARTO, 100, of 2444 W. Gatesburg Rd. Warriors Mark, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at his residence. Born June 11, 1900, in Marengo, he was the son of the late John Henry and Anne (Masterson) Barto.
He is survived by seven children: Gail Dugan, State College; Eddie R. Barto, Warriors Mark, R.D.; Anna Vivian Swortwood, Lamar; Donald C. Barto, Quakertown; Merrill L. Barto, Warriors Mark, R.D.; Joyce E. Fink, Sinking Valley; and Leona F. Smith, Warriors Mark, R.D. There are 23 grandchildren, numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Gladys Fry of Warriors Mark and Roxie Collins of Utah, survive.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Mr. Barto was a member of the Ross United Methodist Church for over 60 years. He had been a lifelong farmer in the Gatesburg area. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Sharon Ludrowsky officiating. Interment will be made in the Ross Cemetery.
