SUDBURY -- Mary C. Vanaria of Sudbury died Friday, March 19, 2004, at her home.
Born in Waltham, she was a hairdresser and manager of Perna's Beauty Salon. She moved to Sudbury in 1954 where she was a charter member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, and past president of Our Lady of Fatima Guild. She was very active in the local and state Knight of Columbus functions.
For 20 years, she was employed as the office manager of R.G. Trucking Inc., owned by her son-in-law, Robert Grierson. Upon retiring, she volunteered her services to Sudbury Community Food Pantry and wherever she was needed.
She leaves her children, Sandra J. Grierson and Francis J. Vanaria Jr., both of Sudbury, and Karen A. Di Re of Acton; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Dr. Albert F. Perna, Marguerite E. Hagan, George D. Perna Sr. and Angie Perna.
The funeral was held from the Duckett Funeral Home of JS Waterman & Sons, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, on Wednesday, March 24, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Sudbury, at 11 a.m.
Visiting hours were Tuesday, March 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services were concluded with burial at New Town Cemetery in Sudbury.
