Betty J. Aungst, 82, East Freedom, died Thursday evening at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.
She was born in East Freedom, daughter of Calvin Sr. and Pearl (Corle) Flaugh. She married Elmer J. Aungst March 16, 1943, in Maryland.
She is survived by her husband; three children; Ronald Aungst and wife, Georgia, of Brookes Mills, Bonnie Norris and husband, Richard, of Spring Church and Gary Aungst and wife, Susan, of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Dorothy Benton, Shirley Fether and Nancy Glunt; and three brothers: Calvin Flaugh Jr., Paul Flaugh and Donald Flaugh. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Croyle; and a brother, Clair E. Flaugh.
Betty was a charter member of Leamersville Grace Brethren Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and financial secretary for many years. She retired from the East Freedom Post Office in 1989 with 21 years of service. She attended Hollidaysburg High School. Betty enjoyed crossword puzzles, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Leamersville Grace Brethren Church, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday by Pastor Mark Lingenfelter. Interment will be made at Claysburg Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's memory may be given to the Leamersville Grace Brethren Church Youth Group.
