|Birth: ||Jul. 7, 1878|
|Death: ||Jan. 13, 1958|
Identified on Death Certificate as Dorothy, a lifelong nickname; she was also known as Dot or Dotty; known husbands include Ernest P. Bagley, Birmingham, Alabama, about 1907, and Thomas Whitley, Guthrie, Oklahoma, who were identified from captions on family photographs saved by her mother, Mildred Earl Childs Barker Peters (1872-1947), and 1910 Census records for Birmingham, Alabama. Although she was identified as "never married" by her nephew, Nathaniel Ervin Barker, on her Death Certificate in which he was in the informant, he was certainly aware of at least some of her marriages (apparently five, twice to the same person), whose participants may never all be reliably identified. During the last years of her life, lived above a small second-hand store she owned and ran, and sang accompaniment while playing her upright piano. She died suddenly from a pulmonary embolism three days after an accidental fall in her home, and was cremated January 15, 1958, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois; according to those cemetery records she was not buried there, and her ashes were mailed to Schroeder Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois, January 17, 1958; Nathaniel Ervin Barker, then a resident of Lansing, Illinois, subsequently buried her ashes in Valleyford Cemetery, Spokane, Washington; the cemetery has since been renamed Wood Memorial Cemetery; and her grave is not marked.
