Bill Joe Amos, 75, of rural Morrisonville died at 10:00 pm Thursday, August 23, 2001, in Memorial Medical Center.

He was born November 26, 1925, in Arkansas city, Kansas, the son of Joe J. and Katie Nora Caldwell Amos.

He married Zelma Campmier in June 1946, in Oswego, Kansas.

He was a retired carpenter. He raised hogs for 45 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945.

Surviving are his wife [Zelma]; daughter, Janice (husband Jerry) Kirby of McCune, KS; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers: Herman (wife Dot) Amos of Edinburg, Cecil (wife Della) Amos of Pawnee, Jim (wife Mary) Amos of Morrisonville and Clifford (wife Mary) Amos of Holcomb, KS; sisters: LaVona (husband Chuck) McKinney of Argenta and Dorothy (husband Ron) Northcraft of Nokomis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Thelma Rhymes; brothers, Gene and Louis Barnard Amos; and nephews, Vernon and Mathew Amos.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 27, in Sutton Memorial Home, with Rev. Chad Foster officiating.

Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery in Palmer, with military graveside rites conducted by Morrisonville American Legion.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, August 26, in the funeral home.
