A homemaker and a resident of Port Allen, Virgie Lee Newchurch died at 3:20 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Pointe Coupee Nursing Home in New Roads. She was 79 and a native of Tullos.
Visiting at Erwinville Baptist Church until religious service conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Womack. Interment in the church cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Rolenda Olinde, of Ventress, and Rhonda Rayburn and her husband, Alvin Rayburn Sr., of Erwinville; two sons, Ronnie Newchurch and his wife, JoAnn, of Port Allen, and Ricky Newchurch, of Erwinville; a sister, Ethel Verrett and her husband, Nickie, of Tullos; two brothers, James Sanders and his wife, Letha, of Tullos, and D.C. Sanders and his wife, Evelyn, of Montery; 10 grandchildren, Paul Brown, Wayne McClung, Brandon Newchurch, Richana Lopez, Michael Rayburn, Jason Newchurch, Heather Rayburn, Dustin Olinde, Alvin Rayburn Jr. and Rebecca David; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Peter Newchurch Sr.; two sons, Wayne Maxwell and Rene Newchurch; son-in-law, Larry Olinde; and great-grandson, Alvin Rayburn III.
Pallbearers will be Wayne McClung, Michael Rayburn, Jason Newchurch, Dustin Olinde, Alvin Rayburn Jr., Brandon Newchurch and Paul Brown.
She was a member of Erwinville Baptist Church.
