Bishop Jimmy Burchell, 71, of Lafayette, IN, died at 8:30 PM Monday, April 15, 2013 at his residence. He was born April 28, 1941, in Decatur, AL, to the late John B. Mae Patrick Burchell. On February 20,1965 he married Shirley A. Lowe in Lake Station IN, and she survives.
Mr. Burchell was the active Minister of the Victory Temple Church of God for over 18 years and drove a school bus for Tippecanoe School Corp. for the past 6 years. He enjoyed preaching, singing, fishing and playing music and time spent with his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Burchell of Lafayette,IN; daughters, Jody Wilson and Heidi Martin both of Lafayette,IN, Heather Garrison (husband Tom) of Rossville,IN; son, Rocky Martin (wife Misty) of Bristol,IN; daughter, Elizabeth Fearnow (husband David) of Elkhart,IN; sister, Virginia Kelso of Decatur,AL; four grandchildren, Tyler Wilson, Jillian Wilson, Bryson Benedict, and Donavon Benedict.
Visitation will be one hour prior to a 4 PM Thursday Funeral Service at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Brother Woodrow Alley officiating; burial will be at Meadow View Cemetery. Preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
