Polly Marie Payne, age 77, of Brasstown, NC passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.

She was a native of Clay County, NC and the daughter of the late Andrew and Pearl Melton Stamey. Polly had worked in the textile industry as a seamstress. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul B. Stamey and three sisters, Edith Payne, Gladys Jordan and Grace Penland.

She is survived by two sons, James Allen Payne and wife Lori of Murphy, NC and Kenneth Payne of Brasstown, NC; two daughters, June Monkus and husband Larry of Hayesville, NC and Mary Ann Postell of Murphy, NC; two brothers, Neal Stamey of Camas Valley, OR and Bill Stamey of Yadkinville, NC; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. The Rev. Aud Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Trout Cove Cemetery in Brasstown, NC.
