Jess Akers, of Wilburton, died Monday of a heart attack in McAlester.
Akers was born Oct. 25, 1886, near Woodford, the son of the late Holmes Akers, early-day Carter county sheriff. He has been a rancher in the Wilburton area. He was a member of the Christian church, 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.
Funeral will be at 4 p. m. Wednesday at the Woodford cemetery, with the Rev. J. Everard Carter officiating. Bettes funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
Akers is survived by his widow, two step-children, three sisters and one brother.
