The death of Mrs. Matilda Adams occured at her home, 846 North Second street, last evening at 7:10 o'clock. She has been ill since last January, having been suffering from the effects of an attack of bronchial pneumonia. She had reached the advanced age of 77 years, which rendered her unable to cope with the ravages of the disease.
Mrs. Adams had lived in Rockford nearly half a century. She was a native of New Jersey and was married in the east when she was 19 years of age. She came to this city with her husband forty-two years ago and since that time had resided in the house in which she died.
Her husband passed away seven years ago. Nine children were born to them, two daughters surviving. They are Mrs. Mary E. Coppins, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Anna King, of Mt. Carroll. Mrs. Adams at an early age connected herself with the Presbyterian church and her life was that of a Christian in word and deed. The funeral arrangements have not been completed, but the service will be held from the house Monday.
