DEATH OF AN AGED CITIZEN.
Mr. Jasper C. Beauchamp, an aged and highly esteemed citizen of this county, died on Saturday last at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dan Wade, near Chauncey. The funeral was conducted at the home Sunday afternoon by Rev. W. E. Towson, of Eastman, and Rev. D. G. Mann, his pastor, of Rhine. A large number of relatives and friends were in attendance. All the sons and daughters, save one, were present. Interment took place in Woodlawn Cemetery at Eastman. Mr. Beauchamp was born at Stone Mountain, Ga., DeKalb County, 79 years ago. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and was connected at the time of his death with the church at Godwinsville, of which he had been a member more that 25 years. He was a Confederate soldier, having served his country faithfully during the war of the sixties, and always took an active interest in affairs pertaining to the Confederacy. Mr. Beauchamp's wife died 35 years ago. He is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Sicily Johnston, of Macon; Mrs. D. W. Wade, of near Chauncey; Mrs. Tom Wade, of Stone Mountain; Mr. Henley Beauchamp, of Godwinsville and Mr. Willard Beauchamp, of Jacksonville, Fla.
Mr. Beauchamp's father once owned Stone Mountain, having bought it for $40.00. He traded it for a Texas pony, and thus passed out of the family a property that is now bringing its owner $75.00 per day.
