Madeline M. Rogahn, age 92, of Chilton, died on Sunday November 11, 2007, at her home. She was born August 20, 1915, in Jericho daughter of the late Frank & Mary (Nickel) Popp. She married Clem Ecker on November 19, 1937, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho.
Madeline & Clem farmed together in the Town of Stockbridge until he preceded her in death on April 29, 1971., Madeline continued to farm with her son until retiring in 1976. She then married Bill Rogahn on December 26, 1976, in Las Vegas. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1997. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stockbridge and the Christian Mothers.
Madeline was an accomplished seamstress who sewed many outfits for her grandchildren and clothes for her collection of porcelain dolls. She loved music and devoted a large part of her life to the study and practice of her favorite instrument, the organ. Madeline loved the outdoors and enjoyed ice fishing, sturgeon spearing, and although she never learned to ride a bicycle, she was able to pass on her equestrian techniques to her daughters.
Survivors include her children: June (Ben) Burg, Chilton; Jane (Tom) Dedering, New Holstein; Jeanie (Ralph) Schmid, Chilton; Paul Ecker, Chilton; Janette (Jim) Goeser, Iola; eight grandchildren: Vicky, Brad, Jim, Pollyanna, Wendy, Nicholas, Mike, Johnny; 11 great grandchildren: Jeremiah, Ashley, Melissa, Mike, Kristy, Katie, Kody, Kasey, Clint, Natalie, Alexis; two step children; a sister-in-law: Rita Daun; and her little dog, Daisy.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son: Joseph; an infant grandchild: Michael; and three brothers: Herb, Joe and Norb Popp.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stock-bridge with the Rev. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday when the service will be held. Wieting Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
