Odie was born on January 26, 1926, in Sperry, Oklahoma. He grew up and received his education in Skiatook, Oklahoma. After graduation, he served in the US Army as a Military Policeman and was stationed in China during WWII. Odie married Rosanna McDonald on October 14, 1949, in Collinsville, Oklahoma. They made their home in Skiatook, and they raised their three children there. He was a dairyman, county road worker, police officer, nursing home aide, and retired after hauling mail for the US Postal Service as a truck driver. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Odie was preceeded in death by his parents, sister Theresa Watson, brothers Henry James "Jim" Guilfoyle, Jess Lawrence Guilfoyle, Francis Leo "Dugan" Guilfoyle, and Robert William "Bob" Guilfoyle, daughter Judith Paulette "Judy" Miller and granddaughter Dawna Arlene Harper Beene.

Odie is survived by his wife; one son; one daughter; one brother; two sisters; seven grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
