Doris E. White, 84, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at The Vintage in Denton. She was born in Shrewsbury, NJ in 1924, the daughter of Lester C. and Alice H. Scott. During WWII she was employed by the Bendix Corporation as a defense worker, and after the war she graduated Cosmotology School in Elizabeth, NJ. In 1946 Doris married William N. White in the United Methodist Church, Red Bank, NJ.

She was past-president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 325; a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Washington Lodge #9; and a member of the Women's Club, all of Eatontown, NJ.

Doris departed New Jersey with her family in 1986 to travel extensively and reside in the states of Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Texas. She also lived in the Orient (Okinawa and Thailand), and Europe (Germany) for many years prior to her retirement.

Since retirement in 1987 she spent her winters in the Rio Grande Valley, in Brownsville and then Alamo, TX; and with her husband, Bill, traveled extensively throughout the US during summer months. In January, 2002, Doris and Bill departed the valley and established residence in Denton, TX.

Doris is survived by her beloved husband, Bill; one daughter, Patricia A. Paddack and son-in-law Donald Paddack of Denton; one grandson, Scott N. Paddack and granddaughter-in-law, Heather of Lewisville, TX; one granddaughter, Laurie A. Perez and grandson-in-law Joe Perez, great-grandson Tyler and great-granddaughter, Lita, all of Aubrey, TX; one son, William N. White, Jr. and daughter-in-law Shirley White and one daughter, Tracey L. White all of Brick, NJ.

Beloved daughter, Barbara E, White, preceded Doris in death in December 1998.

A family viewing, followed by cremation, took place in Denton, with burial to be at Evergreen Church Cemetery, West Plains, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Dallas Chapter, 4144 N. Central Expressway, Ste. 750, Dallas, TX 75204.

Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
