ALEXANDER DIES IN AN ACCIDENT--FELL FROM HAY SWEEP AND WAS RUN OVER
Carried to Home Where He Lost Consciousness and Died
Samuel M. Alexander, fell from a hay sweep last Monday morning and in some manner the implement was backed over his body. He was immediately carried to the home where he lost consciousness and passed away.
Mr. Alexander was born in Ohio, March 18, 1851. In early life he moved to Iowa and later to Roger, Ark., where he engaged in the mercantile business. Later he moved to Kearney, Nebr., where he was foreman of the apiary on the Watson ranch. In 1907 he removed to Morrill County taking a homestead upon which he resided until 1917.
On February 22, 1915 he was united in marriage to Clorinda Roach, who still survives him. He leaves a daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. Etta Dockeral, who resides in Santa Anna, Calif. Two grandsons and two grand daughters also survive him, some of whom were able to be at the funeral.
Mr. Alexander who was very kind and considerate to his family and neighbors and led an exemplary life, was a great student of the Bible and had a great spiritual discernment in the interpreting of its teachings. He believed he was a member of the Kingdom of Christ, and that his name was written in heaven, that he was but a sojourner here ready to go when the Lord should call.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in this city Wednesday afternoon, June 30, 1926, conducted by Rev. F. M. Sturdevant, pastor of the church. Interment was made in Forest Lawn cemetery. (Cemetery later to named Oregon Trails Memorial Park)
