A Pioneer Passes Away
The Remains of Leonard Howe at Rest After 81 years
Leonard Howe died suddenly Saturday afternoon at his home in this city, aged 81 years less 21 days. The gentleman was the father of Arthur and John Howe of Colfax Hardware Company and had lived here several years, emigrating from Oregon. His health had been good all along and remained so within a few hours of his death. The illness which carried him off was a complication resulting from old age. The funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the residence of Arthur Howe, Rev. G. H. Newman of the Baptist Church conducting the ceremonies. Mr. M Howe and Mrs. Viola Cornelius of Turner, Oregon children of the deceased, arrived Monday afternoon to attend the funeral obsequies. A wife, aged 72 years and five children survive Mr. Howe.
