Thomas's birth name was Minter B. Miller. The original cemetery records use his alias name for his burial.

1. Minter B. Miller (20) married F.E. Fitzpatrick (21) on 18 January 1855 in Barbour County, West Virginia. Frances's parents were David and Margaret Fitzpatrick.

2. Minter B. Miller married Elizabeth Alexander on 3 October 1861 in Upshur County, West Virginia. She was much older than Minter. Her parents were Samuel and Sarah Alexander.

Around 1872 Minter adopted the alias name of Thomas E. Johnson.

3. Thomas Johnson married Sarah Samantha Diantha Wilson. They had seven children: Clinton, Essa Almirah, Charles, Margarete, Rozella, Minter, Henry.

On 12-14 June 1880 Thomas Johnson (36), wife Sarah (31), children; Clinton (7), Essa (5), Charles (2) and Magga (2/12, b. Mar) lived in Pleasant Valley Township, Wilson County, Kansas. Thomas was a farmer. NOTE: Census taker used abbreviation of Margaret.

In 1898 he left Kansas moving to Hutchinson, Arkansas and then arriving in Los Angeles in 1903 and was a proprietor of a hotel until his death.
