BENJAMIN WARREN6 (Samuel,* Richard,* Nathaniel? Richard1) was born at
Middleborough, 30 June, 1720, and died there, 11 January, 1802. He was a land
holder in Middleborough, and a member of its First Church, where all his
children were baptized. Under date of 9 February, 1782, he conveyed to his son
Sylvanus all his homestead in Middleborough, bordering on lands of his brother
Nathan; to which his wife Jedidah resigned her right of dower.f
He married, 31 December, 1741, Jedidah Tupper, born at Middleborough in 1724,
and died there, 20 October, 1807. Two of their descendants have had a world-wide
reputation. Mercy Lavina Bump, the wife of Charles Sherwood Stratton, the famous
General Tom Thumb, and her sister Huldah Peirce Bump, known to thousands as
Minnie Warren, who was bridesmaid, with Commodore Nutt as groomsman, at the
celebrated wedding of her sister, in Grace church, New York. The former married
second, Count Primo
