Father of Harvey Brooks Lewis - My Great Grandfather. Samuel was a native of Leavenworth, Kansas who came to FL in 1887, first settling in Palatka. He married Eliza Brooks also of Palatka March 2, 1893.
They came to Miami in 1895 and settled on what is now North Miami Ave and 96th Street.
During his early years he raised bees and grew fruit. He entered the real estate business during the housing boom of the 20s but ill health forced his retirement.
He passed away after a long bout with prostate cancer.
