Ex-Ballinger Man Dies; Rites Pend

BALLINGER (RNS) – Patrick Sylvester Mapes, 68, of San Angelo, died at Lisbon Hospital in Dallas Sunday at 7p.m.

A former Runnels County rancher, he moved to San Angelo from Ballinger in 1942. He was employed at Goodfellow Air Base during World War II.

A member of the Catholic Church, he had been ill about two years. Funeral is pending at Johnson Funeral Home in San Angelo.

Survivors include his wife; one son Patrick Jr. of San Angelo; two daughters, Mrs. Mayer Littman and Mrs. Stan Burnham; four sisters, Miss Annie B. Mapes of San Angelo, Mrs. Lena Fritz and Mrs. Clay Rayburn, both of Arizona; and Mrs. Newt Wardlaw of Waco; four brothers, Fred of Ballinger, Leo of Dallas, Pryor of California, and Harry of Corpus Christi.
