HOWARDWICK - W.E. Combs, 86, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with the Rev. Dave Stout, pastor of First Baptist Church of Howardwick, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.

Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.

Mr. Combs was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Paradise to Worthy Eugene and Olie Erick Combs. He married Joyce Marr on Feb. 17, 1949, in Hereford. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a compressor operator for Pioneer Natural Gas and later Cabot Corp. before retiring. He was a resident of Pampa for 25 years before moving to Howardwick 22 years ago. He was a member of the Clarendon Country Club and the Men's Golf Association for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Howardwick.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce, of Howardwick; two sons, Claude Combs and wife Cathie of Amarillo, and Charles Combs of Chandler, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Charles Michael Combs of College Station, William Edward Combs and Lindsey Marie Combs, both of Amarillo; a cousin; two nieces; and two nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to the First Baptist Church of Howardwick Building Fund.
