Obituary written in German from the Der Friedenshote newspaper which was a German paper of the Deutchen Evangelichen Synode von Nord America. It is in the July 19, 1925 issue. The translation is as follows:

On Saturday, 13 June 1925, Caroline Kurz with having been a widow for 20 years, died in the home of her daughter Lydia Dr. Everet Ligon in Louisiana, MO. She was born in Bellinchen at the Oder, Germany, on November 19th 1842 as the 8th child of Andreas Wilke and his wife Caroline, born Rabe. 1844 she came to Buffalo, NY, with her parents as a child of 2 years. There she lived during her childhood and was confirmed by the respected Pastor Siebenpfeiffer. On September 29, 1864 she married Pastor Franz Wolff. They had one son. 10 years later, after having been working as a wife of a pastor in Mendota, Ill. and Elmore, Ohio, her husband died on April 18, 1874. On May 16, 1876 she married Pastor David Kurz. She was a good help for him in the community near Sigourney, Iowa, Boeuf Creek and Old Monroe, MO, Burksville and Black Jack, Illinois. They had 4 children, two sons and two daughters. In Black Jack her second husband died also and was buried on October 27th 1905 in the cemetery of Johannes community, Black Jack, Illinois. Then she lived at her son's house, Louis F. Kurz for 3 years and then at her daughter's Lydia Ligon in Louisana, MO. There she spent the last time of her life, before she died because of stomach cancer. She was 82 years, 6 months, and 24 days old.
Is mourned in death by son Carl Wolff, Terre Haute, Indiana; from the second marriage daughter Rosina, Mrs. William Dickbernd, Old Monroe, MO; and Lydia, Mrs. Evert Ligon, Louisana, MO; son David Kurz, Waterloo, Illinois and Pastor L. F. Kurz, Marthasville, MO, two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. It was the wish of mother and her desire to be buried next to her husband, who she was married to for thirty years. The funeral was on 15 June, 1 in the afternoon at the local church.

MO State Board of Health #18741 shows Mrs. Carolina Kurz, of N 3a , Louisiana, MO white female, widowed was born Nov 9, 1842 in Germany, to father Wm unknown born Germany, and mother unknown Wilke born Germany, housewife, died June 13, 1925 at age 82 years 7 months 4 days of gastric carcinoma 6 months and senility, informant was Mrs. E. Ligon, Louisiana, MO, undertaker F C. Haley?, Louisiana, MO, burial Troy, Illinois on June 15, 1925.
