Pat's parents, Edmund and Catherine (Corrigan) Powers came to Chicopee MA from Co Tipperary Ireland in 1850. He married Mary Agnes Landers (dau of Maurice & Margaret, of Co Kerry Ireland) in 1873, and they moved on to Little Rock AR in about 1877. They were the parents of 8 sons and 1 daughter.

He had probably answered the call of Bishop Edward M Fitzgerald (of Vatican I Fame, as one of the only two bishops to vote against papal infallibility, 433 to 2, in 1870), for Catholic Craftsmen from all over the US to help build the $70,000 St Andrews Cathedral, which was completed in 1881. He became good friends with the Bishop, and continued to prosper as a successful Masonry/Brick/General Contractor in Little Rock for decades thereafter. He travelled to Rome in 1910, and had a personal audience with Pope Pius X.

His contributions to the growth of both the Diocese of LR and the City itself were immeasurable, and sadly are mostly forgotten today, except for that signature jewel of his career....the Cathedral of St Andrews!
