Michael Streif, an aged and respected citizen, died at the home of his son-in-law, Albert Gilomen, on Deck's Prairie, Monday night. The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon, from residence to city cemetery. Mr. Streif was born in Glarus, Switzerland, Feb. 24, 1826. In 1846 he was wedded to Mrs. Elizabeth Hoesli. Two years later they came to America landing in New Orleans, where they remained a couple of years, after which they removed to St. Louis, residing there two years. In 1852 they located at Highland where they lived ever after. The union was blessed with eight children of whom are all living but one. Three years ago his wife died. The surviving children are Carl M. Streif, of Highland, Henry Streif, of St. Louis, Cath Bohn, of Trenton, Peter and Fred Streif, of Highland, Emma Gilomen of Deck's Prairie and Emil Streif, of St. Louis, and 22 grandchildren. Deceased's age was 70 years, 4 months and 12 days. Peace to his ashes.
