Lace Lee Howell, 90, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 20, 2007. A resident of Appalachian Christian Village, and a former resident of Kingsport.

He served for over 50 years wherever he was needed at First Baptist Church of Keystone and Colonial Heights Baptist Church of Kingsport, Tenn. When his country called, he answered, during World War II in North Africa, Italy, Sicily, the invasion of Utah Beach, and, the Battle of the Bulge. He served with the Headquarters Company 1153 Engineering Group.

He was a caring, loving father and grandfather, who gave of himself sacrificially. Mr. Howell was a faithful, loving husband to June Woody Howell for 62 years. He also leaves behind two daughters, Linda Thorpe (George) of Cochran, Ga., and Donna Mosko (Jim) of Kingsport, Tenn.; six grandchildren Janetta Caltrider, New Albany Ohio; Lee Geisman, David Geisman and Melissa Kilgore of Kingsport, Tenn.; Deborah Shaw of Cochran, Ga., and Stephen Mosko of Charlotte, N.C.; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 23, 2007 from 5-7 at East Lawn Funeral Home of Kingsport, Tenn.

Services will be held Friday, 7:00 p.m. in East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Greg Burton officiating.

Military graveside services will be on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton with the Rev. Tom Lusk officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class of Colonial Heights Baptist Church.

Memorials may be given to the Colonial Heights Baptist Church building fund.
