Birth: 1852
Death: unknown

Lorenzo was a son of George & Hannah Hall Standish. It is believed that Lorenzo was mentally handicapped. He did marry and had three children and moved to North Datkota. He died in 1920. There is a tombstone, with his name on it,but no other information. It does not seem likely that he is buried in the Covil Cemetery.

A newspaper article appeared in the Ontario County Journal, 3/31/1882 that read, "William Henry Standish Plaintiff vs Hannah Standsih., Thomas Standish., Leah Standish., Miles Standsih., Orlando Standish, Lorenzo Standish, and E. S. Flint, as guardian of Lorenzo Standish, an insane person and Levi Tilloton, defendants, you and each of you are hereby sumoned to appear in the Supreme Court..." (remainder of article cut off)

From Ontario County Journal 28 January 1876

Academy N. Y. - On Saturday, January 8th, two young men named Lorenzo Standish and Eli Bills, in attempting to cross the lake from Seneca Pt. to Ganundewah in a small unsuitable skiff, when about half way across were capsized by a gust of wind. They clutched to the boat and report says that Bills immediately commenced fitting his soul for eternity by prayer to the great Master. Standish suggested that they should shout for help, and perhaps they might be rescued from their truly perilous situation. Their cries were heard by a young man near the top of Bare Hill, who ran to the shore, took a boat and brought them out in almost a helpless condition. They were kindly cared for by Mr. Storms' people. They were in the water from thirty to forty minutes.

It is reported that the mother of the rescuer told him as he passed the house on his way to the lake, that if they did not obey orders when he got to them, and were like to endanger him, to have an oar ready and smite them. They were so nearly frozen that it was with difficulty that the boy got them into the boat.
