Henry Paul BECCARD; b. 09 Aug 1879, St. Louis, MO; lived with his parents at 2007 Kosciusko St., St. Louis and worked as a porter in a store in Jun 1900; 1m. Anna A. (WENDEL?) Mar-Apr 1907, prob. St. Louis (she b. ca. 1882, MO of German parents;) they lived as lodgers at 318 Market St. in Apr 1910, at which time he was a clerk in a grocery store, and at 3145 (poss. 3141) Washington St., St. Louis in Sep 1918, at which time he was a bartender, working for F. Seitz at 1000 Market St. In middle age, Paul was tall and slim with brown hair and eyes. We have been unable to locate Paul in the 1920 federal census, but we believe Annie was living without him in the home of her married brother and his family at 1533 Willston Pl., Central Twp., St. Louis Co., MO. On 13 Jul 1922 Paul applied for a marriage license in Jefferson Co., MO, with his intended (second) wife, Mary C. ZIMMER (she b. 10 Jan 1886 or 1887.) In 1930 Paul and Mary lived in rented rooms at 3045 Easton Ave., St. Louis with Paul's 20-year-old son, Harold. Four other adults shared the dwelling as roomers: a middle-aged couple, a 40-year-old carpenter, and an unemployed woman named Dottie Freeze. Paul worked as a department store salesman at the time. Paul and Mary moved to Kirkwood, St. Louis Co., MO in the 1930s and ran a tavern together at 1744 W Big Bend Rd. (now Old Big Bend Rd.) until 1946. Paul d. 28 Sep 1946, Kirkwood, and is buried in Flower Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirkwood. Mary continued to operate the tavern after Paul's death, at least until 1949, but we do not know for how long. Mary d. 26 Dec 1974, Miami, Dade Co., FL.

His WWI draft registration card, St. Louis, local board 17, 12 Sep 1918, as Paul H., a name he frequently used
1900 U.S. federal census (J.F. Beccard family)
1910 U.S. federal census (H.P. Beccard family,) in which Paul is mistakenly said to have been born in Germany
1910 U.S. federal census (H.P. Beccard family) Harold was not reported in this record.

One researcher claims Paul is enumerated in 1920 as a patient in the Public Health Hospital in St. Louis under the alias, Henry Becker (St. Louis, ward 24, e.d. 473, sheet 22A, line 49.) We have requested justification for the claim but have received no reply.
1920 U.S. federal census (Wendel family) This may not be she; if not, her name is not Wendel.
Application for License to Marry, MO, Jefferson Co. no. 151.
Her municipal death record (q.v.) and SSDI report the two years, respectively. There is a record in St. Louis of Mary Zimmer, b. 06 Feb 1884 to Fred Zimmer, b. Baden, and his wife, Minnie F., b. St. Louis, but we do not know if this is our Mary (Registry of Births, City of St. Louis for Jan 1884, no. 1234)

1930 U.S. federal census (H.P. Beccard family) This is the only record we have seen for this person and suspect it may not be a child of Paul's at all. There are two contemporary Harold Beccards in the record, one linked to Kansas and the other to Wisconsin, but neither seems likely to be this man.

Wife: Mary C. Zimmer Beccard b. 1889 in St. Louis Missouri
d. 26 December, 1974 in Miami Dade Florida.
