Bernett Reuben Joseph, a resident of 4501 Askew Ave., Kansas City, died at the Trinity Lutheran Hospital Monday, March 16,1953, after an illness of two weeks. His death was due to a heart ailment.
On Thursday afternoon at Two O'Clock funeral services were conducted at the Floral Hills Memorial Chapel. Burial was in the Floral Hills cemetery. Services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Swofford.
He was the son of Alexander and Elizabeth Riebold Joseph and was born February 4, 1879 on a farm near Indian Grove where he grew to manhood.
He was married October 14, 1910 to Miss Amanda Tietjens also of the Indian Grove vicinity. To this union were born four daughters, all of whom survive. They are Miss Alma and Miss Vivian Joseph of the home, Mrs. Ruth Fulton of Kansas City and Mrs. Rena Farnham of Nevada,Missouri. Also surviving are two brothers, Oscar Joseph of Cambridge, Nebraska, Elmer Joseph of Kansas City; Two sisters, Mrs. Frank Padgett and Mrs. Cleda Elliott of near Brunswick, Missouri. There are five grandchildren. One brother, Walter, preceded him in death.
His trade was that of mechanical engineering, having been employed as chief engineer by the Standard Oil Company at Carrollton for Thirty Three years. After his retirement about eight years ago, the family moved to Kansas City where he still was employed up to the time of his death at Y. M. C. A., where he was held in high esteem by his associates.
He was of a quiet disposition, devoted to his family and kind to every one.
He will be sadly missed in his home and among his relatives and friends. He was a member of the Methodist church.
