Grandpa Ernie was the Greatest! He always filled every coat pocket with those round thick Pink and White mints when he knew we were coming over. We would have a field day running through closets gathering our mints. I didn't like the pink ones, so he'd always trade me out for the white ones.
Gramps would take me down to the Detroit river and we would fish until it was time to pick Grama up from the hospital. We'd always throw every one back..he said it was Because he didn't like fish. But when I got older and saw him eating fish, I asked hm about it. He said it was to much work to clean them and he didn't want to tell me that, in fear I would become lazy like him. I never thought Gramps was lazy. He worked for Kelsey Hayes 41 years before he retired to Florida in 71.

On the way to Florida to close on the house they had bought, they were in a terrible head on accident when another driver crossed the line. Gramps and Gram both were in the hospital for awhile and then a nursing home for rehab. After they both got out, they were never the same. Gram had hip and leg issues that held her back. Gramps didn't want to leave her home alone so they didn't go out much, but made the best of it.

Grandpa died 1 month after his first great grand child was born, my son. I was so looking forward for the 2 of them to play. I know Grandpa has been watching over us and has enjoyed all his great grand kids from above.
I love and Miss you tons!
