From "Miss Allie Abernathy's Scrapbooks 1893 1923", page 78:

(Undated Death date April 28, 1899).

In Memoriam.

Mrs. Elizabeth Denson was the oldest daughter of Barna and Alsey Ivey. She was born near Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Ga., August 9th, 1819. Her father removed to Russell County, Ala., in 1837, where on November 27, 1838 she was married to Augustus R. Denson. She continued to reside in Russell County till her husband's death in October 1871, after which, in November of the same year, she came to LaFayette and lived with her son, Col. W. H. Denson, until March 1877, when she removed to Etowah County, where she resided until her death, at 9 o'clock p.m., April 28, 1899 aged 79 years, 8 months and 16 days. Her remains were interred in the cemetery at LaFayette Saturday, April 29th.
Mrs. Denson was the oldest of twelve children the youngest Mrs. Emma Dubose, only surviving her. She was the mother of fourteen children, three sons and three daughters are still living, viz: Col. W. H. Denson, Judge N. D. Denson, Robt. H. Denson, Miss Mary Denson, Mrs. J. F. Walker and Mrs. A. E. Ivey. Mrs. Denson united with the Baptist Church when she was 15 years of age and was a consistent member as long as she lived. A part of the time she was a member of the LaFayette Baptist Church. A woman of the highest type of Christian character, she lived in the fear of God and died in the triumph of the Gospel faith. She was a most devoted and affectionate wife and mother, a kind and considerate neighbor and true friend. During the last years of her long pilgrimage on earth she was only awaiting the summons to come to her eternal home, the anticipations of which constantly filled her soul with joy.
May all her descendants following in her footsteps at last in that many mentioned home of the Father.
