MINNIE ESTELLE (BELL) PLAYER
27 JULY 1941 - 29 MAY 2008

Minnie Estelle (Bell) Player (Nana), 66, was relieved of her earthly duties as she peacefully passed away on Thursday, 29 May 2008 with her soul mate and Husband of 49 years, Jerry by her side. She ended her journey with a valiant four year battle with cancer and congestive heart disease. Estelle (as she preferred to be called) was born in Thomaston, Ga. to the late James Leonard Bell and Bertha Louvenia (Setser) Bell of Cumming, Ga. and later married Raleigh (Jerry) Cecil Player of Valdosta, Ga. on 24 May, 1959. Mom's immeasurable contributions to our lives include her service to our country as a military spouse while supporting her husband during his 20 year career in the United States Air Force. Raising four children, two of which were born on foreign soil ( Japan and Azores ). She also retired from K-Mart after 10 years, and Canton Supply after another 15 years. Estelle was the sum of everything you could ever ask for in a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, and a friend. Nana always had time for her family and greeted everyone with a beautiful smile. She enjoyed cooking, watching her "Soaps", and word puzzles. But most of all, she enjoyed going up to Gatlinburg Tennessee, as often as she was able.
All who knew and loved her, admired her strength and courage in times of adversity. Her love, devotion, compassion and support for her family were steadfast, she never gave up on anyone! Her love of life, her kind and gracious manner will forever be remembered and she will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her Husband of 49 years, Raleigh C. Player of Canton, Ga.; Sister Florene (Bell) Crowe of Canton Ga.; Brother Len Bell and his wife of 32 years, Yolanda of Covington Ga.; Daughter, Lafonda L. Player Ricketts and her husband of 15 years, Gordon of Jasper Ga.; Sons, James L. Player and his Wife of 27 years, Dorothy F. (Shirley) Player of Pensacola, FL, Gregory C.
