Janith Root McGraw, 88, of Libertyville died at home on Monday, February 12, 2001. Born June 16, 1912 in Decatur County, Indiana, the daughter of Guy G. and Anna (Martin) Root. She graduated from Sandusky High School and DePauw University. She taught at Greensburg High School and in the Munster Indiana School system. She moved to Libertyville in 1954 where she taught and served as Librarian at Libertyville High School until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Libertyville. She traveled extensively, enjoyed square dancing and was a member in many professional organizations including Delta Kappa Gamma, AAUW, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Eastern Star (50 year member), and the Libertyville Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her brother, Loren Root; and her sister, Marjorie Jolliff.
She is survived by two nieces, Patty J. (Mrs. David) Teany of Austin, Texas and Jayne A. (Mrs. Dean) Herbert of Woodstock, Georgia; nephews, Bill McGraw of Elgin and Tony Root of Evanston. Also surviving is her special friend and caregiver, Lucy Kurys and Jim and Marylin Huskey.
Funeral Services will be at McMURROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 101 Park Place, Libertyville at 3 PM Thursday, February 22, 2001. Burial will be in Connersville, Indiana at 3 PM Friday, February 23, 2001 in the Dale Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
