Marshall Adrian Lipscomb, 63, of Champaign died at 12:07 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 3, 2011) at his home with family and friends at his side.
Marshall was born on May, 25, 1947, at Champaign. He was the son of Adrian L. (Pete) Lipscomb and Elizabeth Jane (Luck) Lipscomb. He married Terri (Miller) Lipscomb on May 3, 1969, in Champaign.
He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers-in-law, William H. (Bill) Miller and Patrick J. Miller, both of Champaign.
Surviving is his father; his sister, Barbara (Lipscomb) Schmidt of Witchita, Kan.; one son, Damon Adrian Lipscomb of Champaign; and five sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law,
nine nieces and five nephews.
Marshall graduated from Champaign High School and DeVry Technical Institute.
Marshall owned and operated Telogix Systems Inc. and Corvox Partners Inc. Both businesses were authorized agents for various telecommunications providers.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Marshall was a member of First Christian Church of Champaign. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a life member of Western Star Lodge 240 and the Scottish Rite, Danville.
Marshall facilitated an Addiction Recovery process called the Genesis Process through First Christian Church, Meadowbrook Church and the Safe House for the past four years and was blessed to be a part of helping others find their way out of all kinds of addictions. He found great joy in giving back and doing what he knew God called him to do. He helped many people come to know our Lord and Savior.
Funeral services for Marshall will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at First Christian Church, 3601 S. Staley Road, Champaign. Rev. Michael Mack will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, 4112 W. Bloomington Road, Champaign. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m.Sunday, Feb. 6, at First Christian Church, with Masonic Rites at 1:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Merci's Refuge Capital Campaign, 205 Wilber Ave., Champaign, IL 61820, on behalf of Marshall. Merci's will be a free residential facility for women in crisis who desire to arise to their created purpose. The Genesis process that Marshall facilitated will be a part of the program at Merci's.
