Mrs. Ellen McTaggert, 81, long-time resident of Sheboygan, died suddenly Friday evening at her home, 1109 N. 8th st., due to infirmities incident to advanced age. Mrs. McTaggert had always been active despite her age and her sudden death is being mourned by a large circle of acquaintances in this city and throughout the county.
Mrs. McTaggert was born on Nov. 15, 1849, at White Plains NY, the daughter of Patrick and Bridget Brown. When a young girl she came to Sheboygan county, where she had since resided. At the age of 18 years she was united in marriage in this city with Archibald McTaggert, who died on Apr. 26, 1881 (sic, should be 1891).
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Collins, of the Coffee Shop and The Wigwam refreshment shop, and Mrs. Charles (sic, this should be Frederick) Head, N. 9th st., and three sons, Charles of Minnesota; John of California, and Edward of Chicago. Mrs. McTaggert also is survived by her sister, Miss Mary Brown of this city.
Mrs. McTaggert was a member of the Holy Family society of St. Clement's church and always took great interest in church affairs. She was very devoted to her family and was loved by all who knew her.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 Tues. morning from St. Clement's church where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by Rev. J. E. Delaney. Interment will be made in the South Side Catholic cemetery.

The last sad rites for Mrs. Ellen McTaggart, 81, well-known resident of this city, who died suddenly Friday at her home, 1109 N. 8th st., were held at 9:30 this morning in St. Clement's church, following a brief service conducted at Hanchett Mortuary. Rev. J.E. Delaney celebrated the requiem high mass at the church. Interment was made in the South Side Catholic cemetery.
The pallbearers were George Lamb, Charles Board, Jerry Collins, David Maloney Sr., Henry Toennies and Bernard Ross.
The numerous floral tributes including individual bouquets, indicated the high esteem in which Mrs. McTaggart was held among her large circle of acquaintances. Among the floral tokens were those from the Bank of Sheboygan, the Emil Mohr Bakery, the Sheboygan Business and Professional Woman's club, the employes of the Coffee Shop and The Wigwam and the Order of Conductors of Duluth of which Mrs. McTaggart's son, Charles McTaggart, is a member and also Matthewson's.
The out-of-town persons who attended the obsequies were: Mr. and Mrs. John Powers, Milwaukee; Mrs. William Plummer, Sparta; Harry Brown, Norfolk, Neb.; Mrs. Patrick Ryan, Milwaukee, formerly of this city; Mrs. Mary Jane Nash and son, Charles, of Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. James Mooney Jr., Miss Maggie Keenan and Mrs. Katherine Glynn and daughter, all of whom are from Glenbeulah.
Many friends from this city also viewed the remains while they lay in state. The members of the Holy Family society of St. Clement's church of which Mrs. McTaggart was a member, viewed the remains in a body Mon. evening.
