Katina Johnson Jones "Tina" went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Reston Hospital Center after a courageous fight with Pulmonary Hypertension. For many years she battled Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Tina was born December 29, 1960, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Wyatt and Elsie Banks Johnson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Vincent R. Jones Sr. "Benny", two devoted sons, Vincent Jr. and Isiah, all of Herndon, Virginia; two grandchildren that she adored Tamira and Isiah Jr.
In addition she is survived by two sisters Kathy Johnson Harris and Mia Johnson-Bennett and her husband, Michael, a brother, Wyatt "Ell" Johnson, her mother and father-in-law, Eileen and Joseph Jones, one brother-in-law, two nieces, three nephews, and one Goddaughter.
She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members and friends.
At an early age, Tina confessed her life to Christ when she was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was actively involved in her church and was one of the first youth members of the churches credit union.
After she relocated to Northern Virginia she did not forget her upbringing she continued her service to God by joining Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was an active member serving as a Master Life facilitator and worked in the nursery until her illness.
Tina was educated in the Charlottesville City Schools and attended Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. She last attended Westwood College but due to her illness she had to withdraw. Tina had 20 years of service with Verizon as a Programmer.
A funeral service was held Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Herndon, Virginia.
