SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERAN
Evan F. Calvin was the son of George W. and Levonia (Hunt) Calvin. He was born in Princeton, Missouri on November 12, 1867.
Enlisted May 1, 1898 in Denver, Colorado. Served in Company "L", 1st Colorado Infantry. He was mustered out on September 8, 1899 at Presidio, California with the rank of Corporal. He received a pension on Certificate No. 1,189,164.
On January 24, 1901 at Lake City, Colorado, he married Crete Randel. They had a son, Homer E. Calvin, who resided in Seattle, Washington in 1929 and Edmonds, Washington in 1967.
At the age of 61 years, in November 1929, Mr. Calvin applied for admission to the Washington Veterans' Home in Retsil, Washington. He was 5 foot, 10-1/2 inches tall, had a medium complexion, and was a resident of King County.
He died age 90 on November 9, 1958 at Retsil, Kitsap County, Washington and is buried in the Home Cemetery there.
