She was born in Belmena, Texas on June 30, 1918 to John B. and Jessie Mae (Story) Dodson. She grew up in farming areas around Cameron and was often referred to as her Dad's best hand. She moved to San Gabriel when she married Emory Holder and raised her four children. Myrl later moved to Bryan where she lived the past 28 years until this past year when she moved back to her home in the country. She was married to the late Jim Bennett, February 23, 1978. She was a member of the Cavitt Street Church of Christ. She will be remembered for her life as a beautician and selling Beauty Counselor cosmetics. Her friendly smile, wit and humor brought pleasure to the lives of all that knew her. She found lots of joy in living as her lively personality attested. During her life she loved to dance, enjoyed playing the organ, and her domino table was always out. Myrl enjoyed the beauty and fascination of nature and used to say " you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl." She had a love for pets, of which the latest was her dachshund, Ricky. She enjoyed staying in touch with her life long friends. She loved reminiscing about the "good ole days" and always had some fun stories to tell. She leaves us with many fond memories. She will be forever missed by all who were blessed to know her but she is now rejoicing with her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by one sister, Nadine Palmos of Bryan, three children, Patricia Simank and husband, Morris; Clifford Holder; Malcom Holder and wife, Cathy, all of Thorndale; three step children, Bob Bennett of Fresco; Jenna Kendig and Diane Reyes of Hot Springs, Arkansas and their families. She was a loving grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
Pallbearers will be Clayton Holder, Scott Holder, Kevin Simank, Ronnie Simank, David Garcia, and JoeRay Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Schramm and Frank Felton.
