HALL, DOROTHY M. "PEG" Dorothy M. "Peg" Hall of Denver died Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at the Lakewood Meridian. She was 77. She was born on August 25, 1924 in New Orleans, LA to Samuel and Dorothy Gawn. Peg and her family moved from New Orleans to north Denver when she was three years old. Near the time Peg started high school, her family moved to the 900 block of S. York St. where she met the "love of her life" Wilbur Hall.
She and Wilbur married in 1945 and were able to celebrate 50 years together in 1995. Peg's love and commitment to Wilbur continued strong until her death.
Throughout most of her life, Peg's main focus was her family and friends. Peg loved to provide support to her children, their spouses and her grandchildren. Peg provided encouragement to her children as they achieved milestones in education, marriage and career. She always looked forward to attending a basketball game or a gymnastics meet or a play or music concert or a baseball game or a wrestling match to see her grandchildren perform. She also welcomed her children's spouses into her life wholeheartedly. Peg had a great group of friends. For more than 50 years, she belonged to a group she referred to as the "42 Club" which was made up of a dozen girls who graduated from South High in 1942.
Along with a few others, these women have remained her dearest friends over the years. Peg loved to garden and took pleasure in growing roses and iris. This love of flowers carried over to the needlework projects she always had underway. In recent years, Peg's interest in writing blossomed. She wrote and produced musical productions for the residents at the Westland Meridian.
She also wrote for the Lakewood Meridian newsletter. Her writings on living with Parkinson's Disease, on suddenly becoming a widow, and some of the love letters to Wilbur will be treasured by her family. Mrs. Hall is survived by her brother, Samuel Hunter "Bud" (Dot) Gawn of Aurora; two sons, Bruce E. (Kathy) Hall of Longmont, and Kevin J. (Shelly) Hall of Littleton; two daughters, Kerry L. (Gerry) …
