Laura was born March 29, 1953 in Savanna, the daughter of William and Iva Hanna Keiller. She married Kenneth Folks on October 1, 2005 in Springfield.
Laura was a graduate of Savanna High School and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois Springfield after spending her first two years of college at Highland Community College in Freeport. She was the Director of Weber Care Corporation, which works in conjunction with Brother James Court. She enjoyed flowers, especially roses, the evening sky and stars, reading books, and her cats. Laura was very artistic and enjoyed doing crafts. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was like a mother to the men she worked with; they often called her "Mother Hen."
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Rape; her parents; and her grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, Ken Folks; sons, Bobby Rape and Mike Preston; daughters, Minnie Preston, Mandy Preston and Missie Preston; nine grandchildren; sister, Carole Keiller; brothers, William Keiller and Bruce Hopkins; two aunts, Elsie Keiller and Joan (husband, Gene) Reeser; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 until the time of the memorial ceremony at 2:00 p.m. at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with Rev. Kevin Curry officiating.
