Statements say he married three times and no time was he ever divorced and at no time were his wives married before their marriage to him, James Polston.

3rd Wife -- Married Mary E. Shootman May 12, 1895 in Russell County, Kentucky. She died September 28, 1903. (His memory is getting better.)[However, her last child was born December 10, 1903, making September impossible. Transcription by Edith Bastin ends here. Notes in brackets are my own.

The VA Burial Locator indicates he is buried in Clinton, Kentucky which is in the western part of the state, but also in Clinton County which is south central. The zip code given is for the city, not the county. However, his death certificate indicates he died in Seventy Six, Clinton County so the church cemetery makes the most sense.

Now, thanks to a volunteer photographer, it has been confirmed that he is buried in Cave Springs Cemetery in Seventy-Six, Kentucky.
