SPRINGPORT--Frances Baty, 88, of Springport, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 at the Addison House of New Castle following an extended illness.
She was born April 14, 1924 in Russell Springs, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late William L. and Emma (Bryant) Bottoms.
She attended the Wesleyan Chapel in Muncie and the Memorial Wesleyan Church in New Castle. She enjoyed gardening and supporting Missionary Groups with having been honored by having two churches named after her in other countries.
She is survived by one son, David (wife-Darlene) Baty of Springport; one daughter, Tonya (husband-Bill) Sorrell of New Castle; five grandchildren, Darrin (wife-Rhonda) Baty of Sharpsville, IN, Dr. Darric Baty of Lafayette, LA, Mary Beth (husband-Herbert) West of Springport, Ruthie (husband-Chris) LaMar of Hagerstown, and Dr. Sara (fiance-Clemens Wiltsche) of New Castle; seven great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Molly and Chloe West of Springport, Brooklyn and Bryce LaMar of Hagerstown, and Darril and Doug Baty of Sharpsville, IN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Baty, who passed away April 11, 2008; a great-granddaughter, Brynlee LaMar; one sister, Beatrice Wyatt; and one brother, Robert Bottoms.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Main & Davis Funeral Home, Astor Main Blue River Chapel, located midway between Mooreland and Mt. Summit on U.S. 36 with Pastor Paul Kirk and Pastor Brian Riggs officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Springport Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Frances was my first cousin. She was older than my mom, who was her aunt, by a couple of years. They were also friends who spent lots of time talking with each other and praying for one another.|
